Alpha: What is it?
Have you got big questions about life, meaning, purpose and faith?
Alpha is a fun, safe way to explore life’s big questions in a relaxed and enjoyable way. It’s free, and you can try it out with no commitment to complete the course.
Our latest Alpha course begins on the 23rd September at 7.30pm. Please book here:
Covid Secure Alpha
Alpha is a chance to explore the big questions of life with others over a meal. In a series of 8 – 10 sessions you can explore some of the basic claims of the Christian faith and decide what you think for yourself. You can say as much or as little as you like.
Social distancing restrictions will mean some changes to how Alpha normally runs. There’s a still a simple meal and drinks around a socially distant table. Since we’re eating together we don’t need to wear masks, but you can if you wish. There’s a short video introducing a theme: “Is there more to life than this?”, “Who is Jesus?”, “How can we have faith?”, “Why and how do I pray?” and “How does God guide us?”
Then it’s your chance to share thoughts and ideas on the theme, and discuss it in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say (seriously). It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment. During the course we may need to lock-down more fully so we cant meet in person once again. If this happens Alpha will continue using Zoom. There’ll still be a video and discussion but we wont be physically together and wont be able to feed you!
Hundreds of thousands of people have tried Alpha across the world in cafés, churches, universities and homes. Here’s what others who have tried Alpha at St John’s have got out it.
Contact the church office on 01489 578082 to join us on our next Alpha Course, or use the booking button (rigjht).
It’s free, and you can try it out with no commitment to complete the whole course.
