Prayers at St. John's

“Let us therefore boldly approach the throne of our gracious God,

Prayer is an important part of St. John’s and takes place regularly in the life of our church. All the times of prayer listed below are open to anyone on either a regular or occasional basis.

    Daily: Prayer takes place at 9.05am and 4.45pm in church. Anyone is welcome to attend this 15 / 20 minute service following the pattern of 'Common Worship'.

    Personal Prayer - the prayer room is usually available when the Church Centre is open and can be found on the top floor of the Church Centre in the Curtis Room.

    Weekly: Prayer Ministry is available on Sundays and throughout the week. If you would like to receive this ministry please contact a member of the staff team (whose telephone numbers will be with the church office) or come forward for prayer at the side altar after the 9.30am or 6.30pm service on a Sunday.

    If you would like prayer for a person (yourself or another) or for a situation you can also:

    • Fill out a prayer request 'post it' form at the back of church (This will stay on the board for one month)
    • Give the name(s) to the staff team for reading aloud (or silent prayer) at services.

    The Ecumenical Fellowship Group meet every Tuesday during school term time between 1:30-3pm. You and your children are most welcome to come and join us for family fellowship, scripture and prayer.

    A Prayer for Youth Group meet every Friday morning between 9-10am in the Church Centre.

    Monthly: New Horizons is a quiet, reflective time of meditative prayer. It is currently held the second Monday of each month between 8-9pm in the Evens Room of the Church Centre.

    Service of Prayer is held on the 4th Sunday of the month between 6.30-7.30pm in the church. This is a dynamic, intercessory meeting including worship and bible readings.

    Ladies' Prayer Breakfast - is held in the Grove Room between 8-9am on the 1st Saturday of each month.

    Men's Prayer Breakfast - is held in the Church Hall between 8-9am on the 2nd Saturday of each month.

    These ladies’ and men’s meetings include breakfast, fellowship, a talk and prayer.
